I am a single mother, with one grown son. Since my divorce I’ve rented several places but decided at age 50 that I should take the plunge and purchase a place of my own. I had worked with Steve Underwood at Jewish Hospital where I had developed a trustworthy and honest friendship so I decided to choose Jane Hayes (Steve’s wife) as my real estate agent.
Purchasing a home is no easy task. Questions of concern that I was confronted with: Am I qualified? What can I afford? Do I look for a fixer upper? What floor plan would work best for me? Fortunately, I had Jane and her team who were willing to assist in my decision making.
The search began by looking at a couple of existing places. None of which seemed quite suitable for me. Then Jane led me to a newly developed patio home community called the The Villa’s of Arbor Creek. After several visits to the models, my decision was made on the “Hawthorne” layout. This was a one floor plan with two bedrooms, two baths, two car and two car garage.
After deciding the floor plan came more decisions and Jane played a tremendous roll in all these decisions: Flooring, structure, cabinets, and windows. Jane and I met with the building foreman (Brad) and a McBride associate to put these plans on paper. This process went extremely smooth with Jane’s expertise. The building began – week by week we were able to visualize the progress. Finally the call came in and it all seemed real. The closing date was set and it was now time to lock in a mortgage rate. Oh what a sick feeling I get in my stomach. All of everyone’s hard work and effort has become a reality!
Jane was instrumental in offering positive and cost saving encouragement in assisting me with every step to making my new home a positive experience. The day to close arrived and my sincere thanks to Steve and Jane for everything!!!!
